Still Life is a monthly show on Operator Radio, Rotterdam (2026); formerly a bi-monthly show on Radio Tempo Não Pára in Amsterdam (2024-25).
Like a bowl of fruit or vase of tulips, the human voice ripens and then fades. Still Life is a radio show-as-collection: of speech, song, folklore, poetry; each episode a composition of aural texture and colour that present a moment in time, with the human voice at its centre.
Each episode is a collage of voices, accents, dialects or vocal traditions; placed alongside each other against a backdrop of field recordings, ambient sounds, ripped soundtracks and audio made by visual artists. These are hour-long compositions for a listening ear that tunes in and out, hears certain repetitions or refrains, and slowly notices motifs or patterns.
